Born into an Artistic and creative family of Dutch-German Ancestry, choosing to become an artist seemed effortless and a natural progression in life. I have been drawing and painting most of my life.  I never tire of creating my pieces.  I have progressed from doing Landscapes and Seascapes early in my Art career, to portraiture later on.  I am drawn to the flesh tones of my subjects.  I love creating the subtle color changes in a subjects face as the light dances over the bone structures, catching an expression and a moment in time.

I have won many Art Competitions and Juried Art Shows, have been in numerous Solo and Group Art Shows and created many Commissioned pieces as well.  I have belonged to many Art Groups and Societies through the years.  I have traveled to Holland and visited the famous Rikyesmuseum, Van Gogh and Rembrandt Museums and seen in person such masterpieces created by Titan, Van Gogh, Rembrandt, Vermeer, Ruebens, Leonardo, Michelangelo, Degas, Renoir, etc.   Some of the Masterpieces were so absolutely breathtaking  and magnificent that I stood in front them and wept.

I  am a published Author of an Art Book titled  PORTRAITS IN OILS, Tips and Techniques for Inspiring Artists.   It is a collection of over 60 full color photos of some of my portrait oil paintings, oil colors and techniques that i used to create them.  It also gives a brief description of the difference between the different oils, different canvases and brushes as well a different painting styles.  It is a teaching book and a valuable resource for any new Artist.  My book can be purchased from Coles Book store in the Grande Prairie Mall, Grande Prairie, Alberta  and The Centre for Creative Arts in Grande Prairie and direct through me.
